under this sky
we are weightless
ghost of zero
reflection of nothing
specter. spectator.
after image. impression.
animals and men
merge together
at the crossroads
sliding mirror
in the low sun.
in vertigo.
arrange their shadows
about a face that expresses
nothing.
a memory of flesh.
transcendental narcissus.
the fire is cold.
the fire in her heart
will have passed
into a voice.

Bailey, Computer Poems (1973)
